Urgent PR Card Processing to Suit Your Travel Plans

A new immigrant to Canada should know about the obligations that come with that status. Applying for permanent resident status should be a priority for an immigrant. One common concern that some immigrants have is when they have to travel yet they don’t have their cards. It is necessary to show your PR card when entering Canada. If for some reason you have to travel outside the country, and you don’t have a card yet, consider urgent processing.

Required Information

Expedited processing of your PR card will make it possible to fulfill your travel plans. When applying for urgent processing of a PR card, you must show proof of travel plans. It may be an itinerary or a plane ticket. Whichever it is, it must have certain information such as the dates of travel, destination, information of the travel provider, your full name, and other personal information.

CIC must receive proof of full payment of your travel. You must also indicate that you will be returning in the near future. This information should be on the proof that you provide. It must show the mode of payment, how much, and date of the payment.

How Long

Typically, it may take up to 6 weeks for urgent processing. Of course, this is if you provide the necessary information and make it clear enough to read. Information that is not clear to read can result in normal processing of your PR card. There is also the matter of timing your application right. Ensure that your travel plans are not too soon or too far in the future when applying. CIC states that it should be in the next three months.

Knowing how to apply for urgent processing of your PR card will come in handy if you have to travel.
